Students of 2nd ESO have done two projects in the ICT / Technology Subject. 

One of them is about renewable or non-renewable energies and the other one is a workshop project about connecting body parts (organs, muscles and bones).

SEPARATION TECHNIQUES

The students of Natural Science in 3ESOB and 3ESO C during all the term have different practices related with separation techniques such as filtration, chromatography, decantation and distillation. Now, they explain their results to the rest of the class in their presentation.

DECORATING THE LAB !

The students of Natural Science in 1º ESO have decorated the lab with new pictures of the materials and the chemical labels which they have studied in class during the first term in the lab.

RELEVANT PERSONALITIES

Throughout  this academic year,  for the  “Cultura i Valors Ètics” subject in 3rd ESO, we have been working on the biography of relevant personalities in the fields of human rights,  such as Malala  Yousafzai  and  Dr. Martin Luther King.

In the case of Malala Yousafzai, students were proposed different activities related to her life and her situation and they could also watch and work on the speech Malala Yousafzai gave at the United Nations in July 2013.

In the case of Martin Luther King,  students listened to the song composed by U2  (“In the Name of Love”) in which they talk about his assassination on April 4^th 1968.  They could also watch and work on the speech  Martin Luther King gave on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.  -in August 1963-  and before 250,000 people.  In this speech, Martin Luther King pronounced the famous “I Have a Dream...” sentence.  After these activities, students watched the film   “The Help”  (in English)  in  which the problem of racial segregation  is exposed and then  completed a file about the film. 

MARK TWAIN

In the Alternative Class 2 ESO we have been reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain.  Here you can see a comic made by the students to celebrate Mark Twain's Anniversary.

THE LIFE OF ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRY

To celebrate Saint Georges, this year we have based our decoration on “The Little Prince” 70th anniversary. The students of the elective subject “Have a good time!” have drawn an illustrated biography of Antoine de Saint-Exúpery, the author of “The Little Prince”. Here you can see our biography!

4th ESO - Nelson Mandela Project

Students of 4th ESO A (Alternative in English) have done a project on Nelson Mandela. They had to look for a quote (famous sentence) by Nelson Mandela and present it in an original way. Here you can see some results.

1st ESO A - Alternative

Last Tuesday, 29th of October, in Alternative, the students of 1st of ESO A have been working on the “Concurs Tintinare”.
They have been drawing some of the characters from the Tintin comics. These drawings had to reflect some values, and some students have related their drawings to poverty, education, friendship, etc.
Next step will be to create a solgan in catalan and translate it to two different languages (one of them will be English).
The rewards of the contest are really nice!

4t ESO A - Alternative in English

The students of 4t ESO A have created some posters showing the different kind of texts we can read and the reading skills necessary for them.

this is our second year in the PILE project. We have got good news for you... from the month of October till May our high school has a new member of staff: Jonathon! He is a Language Assistant that comes from England and will be assisting from 2n ESO to 2n BAT. We believe it's going to be a really good experience for you all!

CONCURS INTERESCOLAR DE DIBUIX TINTINAIRE

Laia Torres from 2nd ESO won the Dibuix Tintinaire Contest with an interesting piece of work composed by  a Tintin inspired drawing and a text based on Respect written in Spanish and complimented with the slogan: El respecte ens condueix a una societat més feliç in English, German and French.

1st ESO A - Beyond the Friendship

BEYOND THE FRIENDSHIP

Hello! My name is Paul and… I think I’m falling in love.

I didn’t want to accept that because I was afraid that our friendship would break, but I couldn’t change my feelings.

It all began about seven years ago.

I was in 2nd ESO and I agreed to go to an exchange trip to improve my foreign language.

It was an exchange with England and I stayed there for fifteen days.

I had a strange feeling. I didn’t know if it was fear or if I had the feeling that something new would happen to me.

When we arrived in London, it was really cold… She was waiting for me, and for us, at the airport’s gate. Almost all the Catalan students were shy, but when I looked at her, I knew that she was somebody special for me.

I went to her home because she was my exchange partner.

At first, I was shy, as usual. But two days later, I began to be confident with her, and she began to be confident with me.

She was so beautiful, intelligent and interesting!

One day, we went to a bar to have a coffee and we started to talk about love. She told me she liked a boy. His name was Robert. She explained to me that that boy had punk hair and he was naughty and foolish. But he was cute and funny, and she liked him.

I told her that I had no girlfriend.

We sat in silence about one minute. The tic-tac of the wall clock was the only noise that we could hear.

“You are so handsome!” -she said.

“You too!” -I answered.

Five days later, I fell in love.

Everything was so strange…

Every word, every look was so special.

We went to a park. We went for a walk.

“I love the way you make me feel” -I said.

She took my hand, she came to me slowly… and we kissed each other next to the river.

The days ran and I didn’t want to return to Spain. But I had to go back.

Now, she’s my girlfriend… Well… She’s my wife. We live in a little town in England and we fight for our love every day.

We are so happy!

Reading: An apple for the monkey!

AN APPLE FOR THE MONKEY

The students of 1^st A have read a book called An apple for the monkey. It’s about a boy called Simon and his best friend Honey, a small Golden Monkey. There are only three Golden Monkeys in the world, and so, Honey was a really special friend.

Honey lived in a cage in Westbury zoo. She loved red apples. She saved Simon once.

One day, a thin man was in front of Honey’s cage. His eyes looked like  snake’s eyes. He was a mysterious man.

The next day, Honey wasn’t in her cage…

This book shows us the true friendship between humans and animals. We think it’s a good reading to begin to understand the English vocabulary in context and to progress a lot in the learning of this language.

Why is English so important?

We have started the 3rd term considering the importance of English.

Thinking in pairs we've realized that nowadays it's very important to learn English and to speak it,  because English is an international language and we need it... to work, to make new friends, to continue studying... and as personal satisfaction.

We've made some murals and we've set them on the corridor. This is the result!
